yay! weaving is fun, and doesnt take nearly as long as i had heard it would. this is just a basic strip of various different weaves, my favorites are the twills!
This is a book I made last semester for my surface design class. The shape on the front, and on each gray page, is Manhattan, each page features a different neighborhood of Manhattan. The name of the neighborhood is on the left side of the spread, while the Manhattan shape and embroidered neighborhood are on the right. It is bound with ribbons and there are 25 different neighborhoods. The names of the neighborhoods were applied to the fabric with a solvent transfer process. It took a really long time, originally i wanted to do all the neighborhood but i ran out of time, so there are half. I have the set of pages for the other half in my closet, hopefully i can make another book sometime.

this is the beginings of a final project based on the book Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. i think im going to focus on loss of identity.
this is my urban detritus collage. i dont like it, it didnt do what i wanted it to. i wish i could've just drawn what i wanted, but alas - collage was the assignment. im frustrated because i usually love collage. i was experiencing a serious art block. boo. oh well. i likfe it, just not for this assignment.

Past doors, glassy surfaces and rainy mornings, see thru out, outside, thru you. wait again, wait once more, more time for transparent, translucent, or see thru either way, and waiting only lasts so long, waiting for, waiting with, waiting more for something transparent, translucent, or see thru either way. which way? waiting for direction, waiting to choose, to be chosen. wait longer or not at all, or never again, for something transparent, translucent, or see thru either way.
